Mine says "northern," even though I was born and raised in Alabama. However, I was allowed to watch FAR too much television as a child, and I think this made a big difference. Also, I sang in a lot of choirs, and I think that also made a big diff. When I go home for Christmas, I usually slide back into the local speech pattern, because my mom (who needs a hearing aid, though she won't admit it), says I talk too fast, and she can't understand me. Damn, I'm such a freakin' good daughter!
