I was not bullied at school, except for the girls who talked about me because I was "developed" at a young age. But it makes me sad to read about other peoples' experiences. One thing I have tried to hammer into my kids' heads is that it is NEVER ok to make fun of another kid or to stand by and watch it happen without stepping in.

One of my favorite mom-things I've ever known was my friend Jane, who upon discovering her first grader making fun of another girl who didn't have red sparkly shoes from Target, brought her daughter home and made her throw her own red sparkly shoes in the garbage.

I certainly hope that I've taught my kids that this is unacceptable behavior, to engage in or to see without saying something.

I know all about being teased for being developed at a younger age (one if the first in my grade with a bra).
Good on you for teaching your kids that bullying is not ok. I'm sure that they're following your example. :)

Thanks. I remember hearing girls say that I went behind the school with boys and thinking "Why would I go behind the school with a boy? What's back there?" I had no idea.

Kids can be cruel, especially when they pump themselves up by putting down others. Too bad some adults never grow out of it.

Edited to fix typos. :)
