Title: A Failure To Communicate (Dean/Cas H/C)
Rating: R for mild slash and language
Warnings: sick!Dean, non-graphic dude on dude action, implied established relationship
Summary: Cas was doing the best he could, under the circumstances.
W/C: ~3200
A/N: This is written for [livejournal.com profile] i_speak_tongue for the [livejournal.com profile] fandom_helps fic auction. Her prompt was for Castiel trying to care for Dean while he’s sick and maybe not doing everything exactly right. Honey, thanks for bidding and donating, I certainly hope this is at least in the realm of what you wanted to see.

For this week's [livejournal.com profile] open_on_sunday drabble, Escape, the tale of Fred's heartbreaking death.

xxxxxxxxxx

There had to be something, she first thought.

When the illness started, Fred was certain her friends would find some way to cure her, to reverse whatever had been done to her when that strange object had opened in her lab.

She didn’t know that Angel and Spike had literally traveled into a hole in the world looking for an answer. She didn’t know that Charles was killing himself with guilt over his unknowing role in this whole fiasco.

With Wesley sitting beside her in bed, she was sure, now, of one thing. There was no escape. She was dying.

I've been obsessed with the notion that my stories ought to be podficced for a while now, and have entertained the notion of possibly recording my own. Here is my barrier - I have lived my entire life in the deep South and I'm just not sure if it will sound ridiculous, considering the fact that I've got an exceptionally distinct Southern accent.

Opinions, anyone?
