SPN season 8 finale

So, I wasn't spoiled for the finale but I heard lots of grumbling.

Those two last episodes were absolutely amazing. I loved every minute of them.

That moment with Sam and Crowley. OMG.

Dean's speech at the end.

The falling angels.

The continuation of S8 being the season of hugs.

Metatron turning out to be the bad guy. Didn't see that coming at all. For real. I was totally convinced that Naomi was the villain.

I am so so happy with my Show right now and can't wait until next season starts.



And that's all I've got to say right now.

*sighs happily, nodding at all of your post except the Metatron bit.

He straight up had me feeling "weird" from the jump. I wasn't sure why. Until he told Cas the first "angel" trial. Pieces started falling into place pretty quick after that. I tend to be really good at picking up on such things though. Many many fans were completely blindsided.

Naomi - on the other hand. Totally blindsided me. I still see her as a villain, albeit a reformed one.

Thank you for posting this. I saw WAY too much wank on tumblr today... so much hate for Show and it is wonderful to return to a place I know where people are of more like mind.

I am really looking forward to Season Sublime. (Nine, of course.)

See, this is my problem. I've watched eight seasons of this show. Have I seen an episode here or there that didn't give me what I wanted, that didn't end the way I would have liked it to? OF COURSE! Does that mean I'm going to go around screaming from the hilltops of the internet (does the internet have hilltops) that the show has lost its magic, and it's no good anymore, and I hate it now?

Come on, people. Let's remember what being a fan really means.

So, okay, obviously not my show at all and I don't know anything beyond the names of the major characters, and also their faces because they are all over my tumblr dashboard, but how is Metatron being evil a plot twist? In most mythology and literature, he is at least a menacing, ambiguous presence, and in modern incarnations, Pullman's Metatron is the embodiment of all evil in the universe. Do Sam and Dean not read?

They do read. They are also horrifically desperate young men who blindly grasp onto any little slice of hope that gets dangled in front of their eyes due to the nature of the lives they lead.

Also, in their reading, they have found that much of what is recorded is complete BS, as far as the written mythology vs. the mythology that shows up on SPN goes. ("Uriel's the funniest angel in the garrison. Ask anyone.")

So this really isn't the kind of situation where you can take things that are real and apply them to the universe in which this show is set.

See, I'm already failing at SPN fandom, and I'm not even in it. I feel like I am, though, because Misha fucking Collins is ALL OVER my dash, but I have to admit, he's a cutie, so I'm not complaining. But most of my understanding of the plot comes from gif sets, so.

He is cute, isn't he? Irresistible. His character arc is so compelling, from when he first shows up until now, and it's already confirmed that he's going to be a regular character next season, so I can't wait to see what they're going to do with that. There have been just about as many Castiels as there have been Sams. Right now, I'm posting a canon-divergence AU tomorrow that is Sam/Cas, working on a Dean/Cas for a bigbang, and just signed up for a Sam/Cas big bang (also canon-divergence). Basically, what I'm saying is that I will throw him into bed with just about anyone on the show. I'd give you a list, but you'd be like "Who are these people (or demons or whatever)?"

I coiuldn't be happier with how that finale was...sad and beautiful.

I never trusted Metatron (angels are dicks) but Naomi, I never expected her to turn out to be good - I don't think she always was, or she had a screwed up sense of fixing heaven. But I hated that she was just killed off like that.

But the boys, the brotherly moments, that was absolute perfection. <3 :D

Yeah, I'm getting that a lot of people thought Metatron was up to no good from the jump, for some reason he totally had the wool pulled over my eyes. I think maybe his lifestyle reminded me of Chuck, who I liked, and Naomi was an angel in a suit, who I'd learned over years could not be trusted (unless their tie was backward). Maybe that's why.

Dude, I so bawled my eyes out. I was terrified they were going to kill Sam again. I mean, how many times can those two die and come back? I was so relieved when they didn't, but man, I so wanted to hug Cas. It's going to be interesting to find out if he comes back as Jimmy, or as Cas.

I have always been fascinated by the idea of a human Castiel. Just the idea that it might become canon is so exciting.
