in posting about niche aspects of fandom. So, here is my post about my lady boner for Lucifer. Hope y'all enjoy.
I would like to thank the mods of
spnroundtable for giving me this opportunity to post about one of the niche aspects of fandom. In advance, I’d like to apologize for not knowing how to embed videos and only being able to give links. Please forgive me, I hope you'll click on the links so you can get a visual of my opinions. Also, if you haven't watched all the way through S7, there are spoilers.
Today I’m going to talk about my love for Lucifer.

I realize he’s maybe not so easy to love, or like, or even not really really hate. But there are some canon examples that illustrate why I have a soft spot in my heart for the Morningstar.
And not just because Mark Pellegrino is hotttttttttt.

His speech to Dean during The End was exceptionally touching for me. The way he saw what happened to him, and the question of whether or not the ‘punishment fit the crime’…well, yeah, what he’s doing now? Sure. But the way Lucifer views his fate…it made sense to me. My first moment of sympathy for the devil.

In one of the episodes I’ve never been able to re-watch because it’s so heartbreaking, Abandon All Hope, Castiel meets his brother in a ring of fire.
First of all, the way Lucifer pronounces his name, Cast-IEL, is for some reason very endearing to me. Like that's the way it’s supposed to be said, but humans don’t get it, except sometimes maybe Sam. So they say it wrong. But Lucifer doesn’t. CastIEL. Lucifer gets it right, because he knows. They’re connected, whether Cas wants to accept it or not.

Both rebelled. Both were cast out. It’s the truth. Maybe it was for different reasons, at different times, but still. Castiel doesn’t really want to acknowledge it, but it’s the truth. The circumstances weren't the same, but both chose their own path, a path that defied orders from On High, and both are paying dearly for it.
And then we get to Hammer of the Gods, and those tiny little seconds when Lucifer breaks after having killed his brother Gabriel. Not much time is given to it, but the impact, for me, was profound. He didn’t want to do it. He has a heart, one that broke after what he did. Those few seconds of his unadulterated grief affected me greatly, just seeing his sharp intakes of breath and looking like he was holding back tears.

Now, don’t get me wrong. It’s not like I think it’s fantastic that Lucifer tortured Sam (though I love a good Sam!whump just as much as the next fangirl), or that he almost killed Dean. But it’s not like the guy doesn’t have redeeming qualities.
Let’s jump to season 7, when he helped Sam figure things out during the Repo Man episode. Yeah, he had his own agenda, which was completely evil, but for just a little while there, the things Lucifer did led Sam to finding a way to save his brother.

To sum up, yeah, I know Lucifer does way crazy shitty things. But there’s something underneath, something that makes him almost as human as a human, despite his overall despicable behavior. And that is why, regardless, I have some love for Lucifer.
Thank you again to the mods for letting me share, and I hope that some folks will give some feedback, even if it's along the lines of “Veruca, you are one crazy bitch”.
So okay, I get it, not everybody loves the devil. But there have been enough times in canon when I’ve been able to spot some things that made me understand why he turned out the way he did.
And it doesn’t hurt that Mark Pellegrino is hotttttttttttt. Obviously. Here is a reminder, in case you forgot from the top of my post.

I've listed some fic recs, which vary from canon-based to AU to crack, but I hope you will enjoy them as much as I did.
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5922564/1/The-Secret-Diary-of-Lucifer in which Lucifer bemoans his unpopularity.
http://slippery-fish.livejournal.com/1694529.html Lucifer convinces Sam to help him bring Gabriel back, because Sam understands what it’s like to mourn a lost brother.
http://chef-geekier.livejournal.com/40809.html Castiel talks Lucifer out of that whole apocalypse thing.
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6973739/1/Killing-The-Devil-With-Kindness A kitten can change everything.
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7493983/1/Lucifers_Fall Lucifer’s view of how he was cast out.
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/8198854/1/Lucifer_Awakened An alternate story to the S4 finale.
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/8093464/1/Brave Lovely interactions between the archangels, especially Lucifer and Gabriel – a short story packed with emotion.
http://discreetmath.livejournal.com/6485.html adorable AU about Lucifer and Castiel making a life together after Lucifer is returned to Earth as a human.
Again, thank you so very much, mods, for inviting me to participate in this way. I am sincerely grateful.
